NaPoWriMo 2012 - Day # 6 - starship

too much sci-fi, perhaps?

starship

light
   years
   away

      from a past
      that was a murky
      distant memory was
      the dust of stars and
      generations have lived
      propagated warred killed
loved and died on this ship
      carrying rain forests and
      oceans and an armour of
      air and treasures and
      myths and species
      hurtling through
      its destiny
      this ship

   we
   called
Terra

thanks, Ashok!

this is a stab at "shape poetry". i imagined our earth as a giant spacecraft, so we must really take care of it. :)

Lynn,

yes, they are also called concrete poems. an interesting form, but quite difficult to write at times. :)

thank you for your comments.

kamana,

thanks for visiting and leaving your comments. :)

Raven,

is it? yes, it does look like a sail from another angle. :D

This is an excellent example of concrete poetry. I want to share it with my students.
