NaPoWriMo 2014 Day #8 - echoes in the night

Day #8.

Urg! Maybe needs re-working later...

echoes in the night

the distant thud of thunder
that might have been
the last beat of your heart

in the blackness of the room

only the ticking of the clock
the slow twitch of its luminous hands
grasping the hour of the night

a shade of ghastly green

and then quite clearly from the ceiling
tock//tock//tock
the sound of marbles dropping

but above that is only the rooftop...

Interesting, rather mysterious and slightly.. ominous. It feels as if something is/will be happening.. Like a late night imagining of shapes in shadows.. :)

Kerridwen,

the poem is slightly ominous?there's an urban myth about those "marble" sounds, and it's scary, and i will not go into it. but there are also scientific/engineering explanations about those sounds, and one of it is just simply concrete contracting at night. :)

Truedessa,

thank you! i liked how it started too, and actually i was trying to write a poem about loss, but the words just won't flow and i ended up with something quite dark. :)
