drive by.

sparks scatter on sidewalk
from a tossed cigarette.

ii)

outside a bar
strobe lights of a police car.

glass shards on asphalt.

iii)

a wash of pink neon

the wrinkles on the hooker's face
smoothened.

Geylang is a place throbbing with life after dark. It has great eateries and pubs, serving some of the most delicious food in Singapore. It also happens to be the main red-light district of the city.

:D

haha, i know this is not the most lovely or appropriate poem to end the challenge, it's a bit gritty and dark, but i can't resist it. :)

thank you, becca, for all your kind comments during the haiku challenge, and for sharing your lovely works of art and poetry. :)

Slices of life uniquely captured in these few words. I hope you had fun with this challenge. On your reply to Becca, life is not always a bed of roses, most of my poems and stories have sadness in them hence I use Haiku to add a little joy. Thanks for your visits and comments.

Rekha, thanks for this insightful comment.

yes, i enjoyed this challenge, for the fine poetry that were written, and the community spirit that the writers embraced.
if you have visited my main blog urban poems , you would have noted that most of my poems have a tinge of sadness or anger in them too. and for this challenge too, i have tried to inject some humour into my haiku. :)
