She said, "you should
come up here more often,

it is quiet and chilly
and i get a bit lonely",

but i am not too sure
because the boy Icarus

dropped into the sea
the other day while

we were trying to
fly to Mars.

My daughter was at the recently concluded festival I Light Marina Bay, and took pictures of the light installations there. She asked me if i would like to add some words to the photos. These 5 were the results. Not much, I know from more than 20 installations.

NaPoWriMo 2013, Day #29 - birds of prey

Urgh! only two more days to go!

A fantasy tale today. A dark fantasy piece.

birds of prey

we wait
for the dusk
to scatter
the last of the
light

on cliff edges
that was once
the bastions
of mighty
citadels

and as the
last shards
of light splinter
and fall like
broken glass

we stretch
our wings the leather
taut with muscles
leap off
the precipice

soar over
the smoke & ruins
of a world
torched by
atomic fire.

NaPoWriMo 2013, Day #12 - dragonfly

one-word titles for the past 3 days?

dragonfly

i will not roam
the vast acres of green
i should have known
for i
trapped in this grey city
my wings
heavy with humidity
my dreams
only of home
i am tired
even the dark walls
are mocking
in their silence

NaPoWriMo 2012 - Day # 6 - starship

too much sci-fi, perhaps?

starship

light
   years
   away

      from a past
      that was a murky
      distant memory was
      the dust of stars and
      generations have lived
      propagated warred killed
loved and died on this ship
      carrying rain forests and
      oceans and an armour of
      air and treasures and
      myths and species
      hurtling through
      its destiny
      this ship

   we
   called
Terra

NaPoWriMo 2011 - # 23

# 23

Coming back home one night from work, the full moon was exceptionally large and bright, and from where I looked, it seemed to be trapped in the branches of a tree. Plus, a video game combined to inspire this piece. :)

okehazama moon

the moon
hanging in the
 branches of the
 rain tree like a lit
   japanese lantern
   and i half expect
the samurai riders
     of the Oda to
come flying out
like dark ravens
out of the light
hungry as at

Okehazama

NaPoWriMo 2011 - #5

# 5

do not agitate

This is a prompt from http://www.napowrimo.net/ for NaPoWriMo Day 1.

"Write a poem that incorporates the titles of three books you have in your house."

Here goes. :)

1. The Last Good Kiss by James Crumley
2. Burning In Water Drowing In Flames by Charles Bukowski
3. pay attention: a river of stones edited by Fiona Robyn and Kaspalita

a poem from 3 book titles

baby.
one last good kiss
on this river of stones
this last planet we will meet,
amongst the willows, the songs
of birds, the wing beats of dragonflies,
before
we
go
burning in water drowning in flames
as the asteroid breaches the stratosphere.
